My role on the project

On this project, as Game Designer, I had to deal with various aspects of game mechanics, level design and storytelling:

Game Design: Combat mechanics & Card design
I created a paper prototype to test the turn-based combat mechanics and created different game maps to make the most of the combat mechanics.

Documentation: Realized the Game Design Document and the Level Design Document
I produced the Game Design and Level Design Documents on Powerpoint in order to convey the creative intentions to the rest of the team.

Level Design: Turotial area, West & North District
To create the game's level design, I took inspiration from the very first Zelda, dividing the world into different screens. As for the game's structure, I took a more modern approach. I chose to start with a central zone that opens onto different districts, so that players can explore the world in the order of their choice. The main challenge was to offer an interesting difficulty curve, whatever the order of exploration.

Narration: World Building
I wrote the game's lore to document everything that happened before the catastrophe in which the player evolves, in order to offer a coherent narrative experience between the gameplay and the art direction.
